The Joys of Being a Homewatch CareGivers Franchise Owner

October 11, 2023

In the bustling heart of Portland, Oregon, a remarkable individual stands as a beacon of compassion and dedication in the caregiving industry. Meet Andy Delahunty, the proud owner of a Homewatch CareGivers franchise. With seven years of experience as a business owner, Andy’s journey into the caregiving world began in 2012 when he joined forces with Homewatch CareGivers, driven by a powerful family connection and a desire to make a difference.

Andy’s path to becoming a franchise owner is woven with threads of inspiration, legacy, and a deep-seated commitment to his community. His introduction to the caregiving realm came through a familial tie that held immense significance. Recounting his entry into the world of Homewatch CareGivers, Andy fondly remembers, “This was an opportunity to work with one of my heroes. My father-in-law had purchased the Portland HWCG franchise and was gracious enough to offer me a position to come work with him.”

The notion of serving others has been a cornerstone of Andy’s life, making his transition into the caregiving industry a natural progression. This journey was more than just a job—it was a calling to extend kindness, support, and care to those who needed it most. “Serving people has always been a part of my life, and this allowed me to both help our community and provide for my family,” Andy shared. The unique blend of personal fulfillment and community impact makes being a Homewatch CareGivers franchise owner an exceptionally rewarding endeavor.

Over the years, Andy’s commitment and dedication have led him to new horizons within the organization. From the initial invitation to work alongside his father-in-law to eventually becoming a franchise owner, the journey has been nothing short of transformative. He recounted, “As time went on I was offered opportunities to buy ownership, and then eventually, my wife, Kirsti, and I purchased the business outright. We are grateful to have this opportunity to create a life for ourselves and do good at the same time.”

Through his role as a franchise owner, Andy has touched the lives of many individuals, each experiencing a testament to the profound impact of compassionate care. Among these stories, one heartwarming memory stands out—a Christmas Day call that encapsulated the essence of his work. “Early in my work with HWCG Portland, we had a Christmas day call out,” Andy shared. “The client needed assistance getting ready for bed, including a catheter bag change. Needless to say, I was the man for the job.” Despite the interruption to his holiday festivities, Andy’s dedication shone through. He continued, “It may have taken a couple of hours out of my holiday, but I will never forget after the care was done, all the fun we had talking about all of his pictures and recollections of WWII.” This anecdote reflects the true spirit of caregiving—one that goes beyond the surface tasks and forms genuine connections with those being cared for.

Outside the realm of caregiving, Andy finds solace and joy in his faith and family. As a father of three high schoolers, he recognizes the value of cherished moments with loved ones. “We are loving our time together, and trying to pack in as much family time as possible before they all fly the coop!” he remarked. This balance between work and personal life underscores the holistic nature of being a Homewatch CareGivers franchise owner.

In a world where purpose and profit often intersect, Andy’s journey exemplifies the extraordinary rewards of being a Homewatch CareGivers franchise owner. Through his commitment to community, dedication to compassionate care, and the fulfillment of being part of a larger mission, Andy Delahunty’s story stands as an inspiration for those who seek to make a meaningful impact while building a life of purpose and fulfillment.
