Franchisees Channel Complementary Skills into First-Year Success in Business

September 28, 2019

Sam Moreton leveraged his engineering degree and worked for years in marketing in the energy industry. However, it was after serving as a board member of a Houston-area retirement community that he realized it was time to switch to what he felt was a more meaningful career.

His wife, Ellen, already had strong community ties through decades of regional volunteering. Having personally seen the challenges of hiring professional home care, the Moretons decided to build on their complementary skills and launched their Homewatch CareGivers Houston Galleria home care business in 2018.

In just one year, the Moretons have registered such extraordinary success that they won the “Rookie of the Year” award at the franchise’s annual conference. The recognition goes to the franchisee who averages the highest monthly revenue in the first year after launch. Ellen said, “Sam and I feel honored to be part of an organization that recognizes franchisees who are only just starting out in the franchise system. We can’t wait to see what this next year brings and look forward to our continual growth with Homewatch CareGivers.”

Indeed, continual growth is what franchisees like Sam and Ellen Moreton are expected to enjoy in a market that’s ripe for the kind of home care that they provide. The Moretons have strategically invested by hiring the right staff, including a director of operations and a manager of care who are a vital arm of their home care business. Care providers who work at the Moreton’s location undergo an extensive background check and are welcome as an integral part of the team. This in turn reflects on the kind of quality care that clients receive.

The Moretons are strong believers in integrity and compassion – values that all Homewatch CareGivers franchisees share. “We have a passion to be advocates for the elderly and those in need, and are excited to make our mark in the homecare industry,” said Sam.

As the Rookie of the Year award shows, the Moretons are already making their mark with their home care business. They’re a shining example of what Homewatch CareGivers franchisees can achieve, given the right systems and tools, and a generous dose of passion.
