Homewatch CareGivers Demonstrates Leadership Role in Attending Industry Events
November 19, 2018
Homewatch CareGivers President and CEO Julie Smith, VP of Strategy and Health Care Innovation Jennifer Ramona and Director of Franchise Operations Joe Stefanko recently attended the 2018 Home Care Association of America (HCAOA) Annual Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. This year’s theme, “The Voice of Home Care for American Families: Advocating for Our Seniors,” focused on the importance of being an advocate on behalf of the senior community and their families.
CEO Julie Smith sits on the HCAOA Board of Directors, helping influence the strategy and direction of the largest employee-based home care trade organization in the nation. Jennifer Ramona and Joe Stefanko joined other HCAOA members at the conference in participating in Lobby Day. They met with congressional representatives to discuss points such as addressing the workforce shortage in home care, funding of geriatric workforce improvements with a special focus on direct care workers and by enacting employer-based immigration reforms. Public policy updates were also discussed during conference sessions, including the VA Mission Act of 2018, which was enacted in June to improve veteran access to VA health care.
Homewatch CareGivers’ attendance at such events demonstrates our active engagement in legislative policy affecting the home care industry. It also allows us to represent our network of small business owners who are also employers and home care providers. Having a presence at key industry events is just one of the many ways that Homewatch CareGivers’ leadership continue to make our presence known as a leading force in the home health care industry.
