August 31, 2017
In honor of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, during the month of September we are spotlighting stories our franchisees have shared on how their businesses are part of the “Business of Care.” For more information on how you can be part of the business care, visit our Franchise website.
“We were so honored to take care of a young mom with two young sons aged 9 and 12. Our client had end-stage breast cancer and had no family to care for her. She had a wonderful coworker friend who was a mom and worked full-time and dedicated herself to caring for her friend and two sons, but she needed help.
Our team was able to make the last six weeks of our client’s life the best that it could be. We helped our client do all the “mommy errands” like buying the boys school supplies, school clothes and their new eyeglasses. We also were able to help support her enough to create some final family memories by going to Chuck E Cheese with the family and for a moment, everyone was happy and life seemed “normal.”
The most special part of our journey with our client was at the end, when she started hospice. At a moment’s notice we assembled a 24/7 care team to be her family, as her good friend wanted to make sure her final days were a comfortable as they could be.
I’d like to give special thanks to our caregiver Enrique. He was with our client and held her hand as she took her last breath and found finally peace. We loved her and know she felt loved.”
